Portable Appliance
Testing (PAT Testing), Cornwall.
Cornwall PAT Testing offer local, independent and affordable
portable appliance testing (known as PAT testing) in Cornwall.
All portable appliance testing is carried out by our engineers
who are City & Guilds Inspection and Testing qualified.
We use the latest computerised PAT testing equipment to make
the testing of one or several thousand assets cost effective.
On completion, the PAT test and asset data is uploaded to
our management software allowing us to generate a full report
and an asset list for you. We can provide a printed version
or email and electronic copy straight to you. Please give
us a call if you would like to know more, or browse our website.
What is portable appliance testing?
When we carry out inspection and testing
on an appliance, we perform a visual inspection, checking
the plug, inside and out, the cable and the appliance casing.
We then connect it to a PAT computer to verify the earth connection
and insulation and that it functions correctly. The results
are recorded electronically and stored under the appliance's
unique asset number and a pass or fail label attached.

Have you ever wondered why extension reels say 'unwind
before use'? We found this melted one in use in August.

Feb 2008 New Barcoding. We
have just upgraded our asset management system and now each
of your items gets a shiny barcode label and a little pass
sticker. This means quicker retesting, smarter labels for
you and and laser scanners for us.

Why do I need my appliances testing?
The Electricity At Work Regulations 1989, The Health &
Safety At Work Act 1974, and The Provision and Use of Work
Equipment Regulations 1998 put requirements on employers,
employees and the self-employed to insure the safety of
appliances used in the workplace.
Don't be shocked.
PAT testing not only helps you comply with HSE regulations
but often finds dangerous electrical faults, preventing
fire or injury to you or your staff. Have a look at some
common finds here>
